Natural Resourses ...

Natural Resources, well the oxford dictionary meaning of it is "materials or substances occurring in nature which can be exploited for economic gain"  or natural resources can be defined as energy sources, minerals..etc. which exist naturally in a place that can be used by people.
                                                   These days natural resources basically act as a foundation in human life. They support almost every revolutionary work done by human kind. They are the gifts of mother nature. Natural Resources can be categorize according to various facts like;
  • Source of origin
  • Stage of development
  • Renewability
Sources of Origin:
  1. Biotic : resources that are obtained from the biosphere
  2. Abiotic:resources that are comig from non-living, non-organic material
Stage of Development:
  1. Potential Resources: Resources that are existing in a region and they my be used in the future 
  2. Actual Resources: Resources that are being used in the present
  3. Reserve Resources: The parts of actual resources that are reserved for future
  4. Stock Resources: The resources which we cannot use because of lack of technology 

Renewability:
  1. Renewable resources: Resources that are being replenished naturally
  2. Non-renewable resources: Resouces that form extremly slowly and those donot form naturally in the environment. Minerals are good examples.
 If we consider about SRI LANKA there are many natural resources found in various parts of the country. Graphite, clay, gems, lime etc... are some examples. And also with the geographical location of Sri Lanka "Wind" is used in several industries. And also these types of Natural Resources support in a great amount to uplift the country's income.  

All these types of Natural Resources are subjected to the same problem. That is "Depletion of Natural resources". In recent years, the depletion of natural resources has become a major focus of  everybody. World is trying it's best to overcome this problem and safeguard the natural resources for the future.
